Product Details

Made from ubame oak, a tree native to Wakayama, Japan.

Binchotan charcoal is activated by burning branches of oak at extremely high temperatures inside a specialised kiln in a process called Nerashi. This carbonises the structure of the wood and leaves behind porous cavities that naturally bond with chemicals and other impurities that are often found in tap water.

Two sticks of binchotan charcoal can purify up to one gallon of water and will continue to filter water and air for up to three months.

Water purification:
Place charcoal in a glass pitcher or other container with tap water and let sit for several hours. Pour and refill as needed.

Air purification:
Display charcoal sticks or bits in places where moisture and smells accumulate.

Once the charcoal reaches the end of its life, break it up and disperse in your garden soil. The porous nature of the charcoal helps aerate soil, increasing microbial activity and creating a healthy environment for your plants.

4 sticks.
